Quiteria Kekana Laid to Rest Today
Celebrity designer to the stars, Lebogang “Quiteria” Kekana, is set to be laid to rest this morning, Friday 22 April, after losing his battle with cancer.
Last year, the 38-year-old revealed that he had developed cancerous lumps as a combined result of stress-related trauma and a concussion.
On Sunday, 17 April, Kekana succumbed to his illness and passed away at his home in Melville, Johannesburg.
A candlelit ceremony was held at his Quiteria Atelier studios in Melville on Wednesday, 20 April; now, a funeral service is scheduled this morning at Parkhurst Recreation Centre in Melville. Members of the public will be able to view the service virtually.
From ballroom dancer to celebrated fashion designer, Kekana dressed the likes of actress Katlego Danke, singer Makhadzi, actor Khaya Dlala, and pop phenom Beyonce, notably during the latter’s appearance at the 2018 Global Citizen Concert.
“I was slaying because of you,” Makhadzi wrote on Instagram soon after Kekana’s death. “I was slaying with beautiful costumes because of you. Thank you, God, for bringing quiet in my life. May his soul rest in peace.”
